Book Review: The Illustrated Book of Sayings by Ella Frances Sanders

I chose to read this book thinking it would be easy and fluff — far from it!

I actually learned something. It was quite good — quite interesting to see how similar idioms can be…and how untranslatable.

Some of them are just plain weird. I would read the translation, think I knew what it was going to mean, but be completely off!

I recommend this book for a gift. Maybe someone with kids (not too young). Maybe as a Holiday gift for a pre-teen. Educational and interesting! A good coffee table book, as well. It’s a subject that isn’t “funny cats” or “photography” or something cliche like that. It’s approachable, yet not something you want to get rid of as soon as you look at it once. Also a smaller book, not huge like a picture book or real coffee table book. Good size.

I received this book from the Blogging for Books program in exchange for this review.
